The motorcycle market began 2026 with double-digit growth in Colombia

The motorcycle market in Colombia began 2026 with clear signs of dynamism. In January, year-on-year growth exceeded 30%, according to the report by the National Association of Businessmen of Colombia (ANDI) and FENALCO, based on figures from the National Single Transit Registry. Although there was a seasonal adjustment compared to December, the annual balance confirms the strength of the sector and the leading role of the motorcycle as a mobility solution and work tool in the country.

The highest demand was concentrated in low and medium-displacement motorcycles, especially in the 101 to 125 cc and 151 to 200 cc segments, reflecting a preference for efficient, economical, and functional vehicles in both urban and rural environments. Bajaj, Honda, and AKT led the brand rankings, while firms such as Hero showed significant growth. Furthermore, the best-selling models incorporate advanced braking systems such as ABS or CBS, evidencing a market evolution toward higher safety and technology standards.

In the regional analysis, departments such as Cundinamarca, Antioquia, and Valle del Cauca accounted for nearly half of national registrations, with visible growth also in intermediate municipalities. This behavior confirms the expansion of the market beyond major capitals and poses challenges in infrastructure, financing, and road safety. For the industry, the start of 2026 is not only encouraging: it reaffirms the strategic importance of the motorcycle within the Colombian mobility system.
