As part of #F2R, the IX National Motorcycle Club Symposium took place, an event that brings together the leading members of motorcycle clubs every year. On this occasion, it featured the participation of prominent figures such as Spanish motorcycle racer Joan Barreda Bort, Hero Motos’ new official signing for DAKAR, and experts like Medellín’s Secretary of Mobility, Mateo González.
More than 250 attendees arrived at the Symposium, and various topics were addressed, including the current status of the District Development Plan for Mobility. During the event, information was shared about an awareness activity focused on road safety, aimed at reducing road incidents and, consequently, road fatalities. According to data provided by the department, 97 deaths have been recorded so far this year, compared to 268 last year. Among the victims, approximately 50% to 55% are motorcyclists, and of those, 37% collided with a fixed object, such as a post or a sidewalk. Additionally, half of the pedestrians killed were struck by motorcyclists.
The Symposium concluded with a reflection on the need to reduce speed and respect traffic signs, along with the message that it is not necessary to wait to be a victim or witness an accident to take preventive measures.
